How to Stay… Motivated !!
If you’re in Voice Overs, Advertising, Media or what ever, you know it’s really hard sometimes to keep motivated in the what we do. Here’s a list of a few things that you can keep in mind as you try to keep up with the day to day.
* Condition your mind. Train yourself to think positive thoughts.
* Condition your body. It takes physical energy to take action.
* Avoid negative people. Don’t take anything that they say seriously.
* Always remain flexible. No plan should be cast in concrete.
* Act with a higher purpose. If it doesn’t serve your goal, it’s wasted effort.
* Take responsibility for your own results. Don’t credit luck, good or bad.
* Stretch past your limits on a daily basis. That’s how you grow and evolve.
* Don’t wait for perfection; do it now! Perfection’s the enemy of good enough.
* Be careful of what you eat. It takes physical energy to succeed.
* Hang around motivated people. The positive energy will rub off on you.

Hey Bryan:
Actually, I’m Geoffrey James, not Geoffery Adams, although I must admit I like the new moniker. Thanks for referencing my blog.
Here’s a voiceover story for you. I used to do a show on talk radio. As a host, I sometimes had to do live ad readings. One time I neglected to read the ad first (I was getting cocky). Turns out it was for a lawn product and the first line was:
“Are there bugs crawling up your grass?”
The line struck me as so funny, that I got the giggles and couldn’t stop and the engineer started laughing so hard that he just left the control room. So for the next 2 minutes I had to struggle through the rest of the read, nearly in tears from trying to keep from laughing.
For some reason, they never asked me to do a live read again.
