We’re in a recession. Obama and the leaders of the free World just met in NYC. Now, I’m not sure where the others stayed but Obama stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria in a 4 room suite to the tune of $7000.00 per night. Maybe a small cut back would be nice. I’m sure that there’s a ton of rooms, just as nice, but maybe around the $1000.00 per night bracket.
During this recession the rest of us have been told by the folks we work for to cut back a bit. The hotels we’re left with are kind of weird.
When we check in …
– Asked if we want the “Hourly” Rate.
– When we ask for a towel, they say, “Hang on, someone’s using it !”
– When we call the front desk and say, “I gotta leak in my sink”, they reply, “Go ahead”
– The soap in the bathroom, looks like a hamster.
So Mr. Obama this is the crap we have to go through during a recession. Go and hang out in your suite…but “Get Off My Lawn”.

When you think about it all Stand-Up Comics are into Sales. They have to sell “Words” and themselves. A friend of mine Geoffrey James wrote a great piece and here’s a bit of it (From, “Sell Like Jay Leno“)

RULE #1: Failure is never permanent. Leno wasn’t an overnight sensation.  Some of his early performances on Carson’s Tonight Show were weak and he didn’t appear on television for years. But he kept honing his skills and eventually became a regular guest on Letterman’s show, eventually earning him a guest host gig on Tonight, which led to his current success.

RULE #2: Work is better than vacation. Leno is famous for spending his free time doing personal appearances that help his career.  He seldom, if ever, takes vacations although he is quite generous in giving vacations to his staff.  The truth is that, unlike people who see work as a way to fund other “fun” activities, Leno see work as something that’s fun all by itself.

RULE #3: Fake it before you make it. Leno has a history of sticking his neck out to further his career.  For example, when Leno was just beginning to appear regularly on television, his career got a big public relations boost when he was selected “Best Face to Caricature” by the “American Caricature Association,” an organization that he invented.

RULE #4: Everyone is a potential customer. Unlike celebrities who remain distant from their public, Leno makes a point of being accessible.  He invariably waves and smiles when he’s spotted in driving one of his many rare automobiles. When hired for speeches, he greets and shakes the hands of as many people as possible.

RULE #5: Give back to the community. One way that Leno builds his image as a likeable guy is to dedicate time to community service.  For example, Leno has been known to fly at his own expense to Chicago or Detroit to do benefits for the homeless.  While Leno’s generosity is clearly genuine, there’s no doubt that it helps his “brand” when people view him as a nice guy.

RULE #6: Be generous with your thank-yous. After the original article appeared, Leno personally called SellingPower publisher Gerhard Gschwandtner and thanked him for the publishing the article.  He didn’t have to do that, but that gives you an indication of how Leno thinks.  Leno truly is the nice guy he plays on TV — and that’s why he’s so successful.

If you want to legally steal from the elderly in Canada all you have to do is have the GOVERNMENT help you. This is done by being a massive company with more money than GOD. Call yourself “Insurance” and you can do what ever you want…here’s some legal speak from the Human Rights Code of Saskatchewan. I’ve found that there is a similar clause in just about every Human Rights Code in Canada.

15(1) No person shall, in making available to any person a contract that is offered to the public:

(a) discriminate against any person or class of persons on the basis of a

prohibited ground; or

(b) include terms in the contract that discriminate against a person or class of persons on the basis of a prohibited ground.

(1.1) The right pursuant to subsection (1) does not apply to discrimination on the basis of disability within the meaning of subclause 2(d.1)(ii) where a person refuses to contract with another person who does not have the legal capacity to contract.

(1.2) The right pursuant to subsection (1) is not infringed where:

(a) a contract of automobile, life, accident or sickness or disability insurance;

(b) a contract of group insurance between an insurer and an association or

person;

(c) a life annuity;

(d) a pension contract; or

(e) any contract other than one mentioned in clauses (a) to (d);

is prescribed in the regulations as a contract or one of a category of contracts that differentiates or makes a distinction, exclusion or preference on reasonable and bona fide grounds because of disability, age or family status.

(1.3) Repealed. 2000, c.26, s.11.

(2) Repealed. 1980-81, c.41, s.3.

The Federal and Provincial Governments are the ones that endorse this action. Yes every MLA and MP endorse the financial RAPE of the Elderly in Canada. Look at one of the fastest growing age groups in Canada 40+. This has Insurance Companies just wringing their hands and laughing all the way to the bank.

It’s time this part of the human rights code changed. Let the politically powerful, RAPIST Insurance Companies change, come up with a different, FAIR way to charge their customers in this country that’s within, new, level playing field, human rights Anti-Discrimination laws.

Mr. and Ms. Government it time you helped protect the elderly, instead of standing on the sidelines and supporting blatant DISCRIMINATION!! So to the Insurance Industry..Shame on you!!  The Federal and Provincial Governments THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF THE ELDERLY…AND “Hey, Get Off My Lawn”

Conservative, Liberal even NDP politicians in Canada endorse age discrimination!! They don’t mind seeing the elderly financially RAPED in Canada. NOT ONE politician has replied to my inquiries about the discriminatory practices of Insurance companies and Term Life.

Even the OmbudService for Life & Health Insurance endorse the discriminatory practices of Insurance companies in Canada, just look at this quote from that office, who by the way, is the office that handles complaints about insurance……”You are quite right that insurance companies discriminate.  For example, younger people pay lower life insurance premiums than older people (age discrimination).  Since woman live longer than men, they pay lower life insurance premiums (sex discrimination).   An individual who has just been diagnosed with an invasive cancer will not be able to obtain medically underwritten life or health insurance (discrimination based on physical infirmity).  And, older experienced drivers pay lower car insurance premiums than teenagers (again, age discrimination)”.

If you were to open a business and you charged let’s say, white people a low price and any other nationalities a higher price, you’d be brought up in front of a Human Rights Board. Insurance Companies have been getting away with this kind of Practice…for ever, but in their case it’s age discrimination. You can hear the insurance companies whining, “well we base all of our policies on Actuarial Tables”….SORRY Sparkey, if we have to sometime change the way we do business to incorporate HUMAN RIGHTS and obey the laws of Canada, which is just common sense…why don’t you? Is it because you have more money and can buy your way into politics and the media?
By doing NOTHING the politicians of Canada endorse Age Discrimination in this country. With a possible election looming this is not good practice for any politician.

The Bottom Line
Since Insurance companies have been running a business based on Discriminatory Practices, they should have to return all money paid to them by anyone that ever had a term life policy or change the way you do business so it’s fair for all. SEE “How Insurance Companies financially RAPE the Elderly”. Now I’m no lawyer but could that make a great class action lawsuit ?
